The landlord had seemingly just been setting up when I arrived on the platform at Tynemouth station earlier on the morning of my visit. According to my research, it wasn't supposed to be open until 3pm.
I returned much later on to find quite a lively atmosphere in the station with schoolkids have just been thrown out for the day and a few other customers in what was once the station waiting room. By this time, the landlord had moved onto fixing this micropub's vintage jukebox!
This was easily my favourite pub of the day in Tynemouth and North Shields, with 4 cask ales, 4 ciders and a good craft beer range too. Real ales were Anarchy Blonde Star, Turning Point Disco King, Durham Saison D'Olicana & Northern Monk Great Northern Ale. Ciders were all from Snail's Bank - Raspberry Ripple, Orchard Dry, Rhubarb Cider & Parma Violet Cider. Craft beers were Almasty Session IPA, King Aelle Flat Head, Full Circle We Are Here, Docks Beers Docktoberbier, Brewshed Insomniac & Accidental Don't Mess With Conky.
Seating is all undercover, either in the former waiting room itself or in a semi-outdoor area on the platform itself. I'm still not sure that parma violet flavour cider works. But it was a new one for me and if ever I'm back in Tynemouth, this pub will be top of my list for a re-visit.

A good sized one room station bar with some outside seating on the platform side. The interior was mainly exposed brick walls, an original black cast iron fireplace on the right hand side wall and the bar area over on the left. The bar had a stainless steel counter top and the bar front was constructed from timber cladding from an old gymnasium floor, maybe from a school. There was also an original jukebox over by the entrance, which was in use, with the music playing at a decent level. Four ales on handpump, Almasty Idaho 7, Nelson Mosaic, Anarchy Blonde Star and Ilkley Joshua Jane. We went for the Anarchy at £3.80 a pint, which was passable. This bar also had a choice of 7 keg.
